A while back we posted an article that was published on ASTD’s Learning Circuits about how long it takes to develop one hour of training given the development tool and level of interactivity. The article received a lot of debate on the numbers that were presented; which is helpful to the research as hopefully it encourages more to participate in providing data.
One thing that had not been reviewed in the article was the qualitative data which was very telling to why some individuals inputted the numbers they did. The issues discussed were not about the ISD process itself but the management of the project. We (Karl Kapp and Robyn Defelice) took that information and feedback from presentations on the subject and paired it with best practices that we’ve honed to develop this tasty reduction to development hours.
