Kind of sounds like the TV Show Dinner Impossible right? Well that’s where we get the inspiration for this post; watching video clips of one of our favorite shows on The Food Network. It really amazes us how much these cooking challenges can make us think about some of our own instructional design trials.
However we can also learn from these videos as well. In the video that we share watch how quickly Robert gets himself up to speed by asking a consolidated question about his needs (the video counts down time so this occurs between 5 minutes and 4 minutes and 37 seconds) so that he can successfully achieve making a fabulous dinner for 600 folks. What is amazing is how urgency has erased the formality of sitting down with the client and digging into all the nuances of the situation and laying out a careful, premeditated plan. The luxury is gone for such a process – however we are given a great example of how in less than 30 seconds a master of his craft communicates to his client what he needs to be successful for them.
